In this ZEC Elliott Wave analysis on 7 September 2026, we start with a look back at the 26 August video, where the blue target zone from $1,254 to $1,974 was called while ZEC was still trading around $766. That target zone has now been reached. Video by More Crypto Online.
ZEC has followed the breakout pattern and hit the first target at $1,250, the 50% extension. The structure still looks incomplete: on the larger timeframe ZEC is likely working on a diagonal pattern, and the smaller timeframe shows a 1-2 setup that can carry the price toward the 61.8% extension around $2,000, with $3,765 as the extension target if the trend holds. The former resistance around $800 has been broken and is now the next main support region on the larger timeframe. The nearest support zone sits between $996 and $1,128; an internal fourth wave pullback into that zone would be normal and keeps the bullish sequence intact as long as $996 holds.

Insights Today
-The Grayscale Spot ETF Catalyst: The primary driver behind Zcash's massive structural re-rating is the explosive institutional adoption of Grayscale's Zcash Spot ETF (Ticker: ZCSH). Converted from a trust format and listed on NYSE Arca on August 25, the fund's net assets under management (AUM) rocketed to $463 million. The ETF has provided a friction-free, compliant vehicle for traditional capital seeking exposure to privacy protocols, fueling direct spot market demand.
-Violent Short Squeeze & Liquidations: ZEC's explosive move has been supercharged by extreme leverage dynamics in the derivatives market. Over $44 million to $46 million in ZEC short positions were wiped out within a 24-hour window, contributing to a broader crypto-wide liquidation ripple. Massive unrealized losses—including a heavily monitored Hyperliquid whale facing over $25.7 million in losses on a short position opened at $444—have forced aggressive covering, causing a feedback loop of upward price momentum.
-Fundamentals & AI Narrative: A shifting regulatory environment coupled with the implementation of July's Ironwood hard fork (which successfully resolved an earlier security bug) has completely restored protocol trust. Furthermore, institutional asset managers are positioning Zcash as an essential macro hedge; as artificial intelligence increasingly automates and monitors global transaction records, the institutional demand for cryptographically shielded transactional privacy has spiked dramatically.
-On-Chain Profit Taking: On-chain data indicates that early buyers are beginning to scale out into this strength. Two major wallet addresses with average cost bases between $620 and $630 placed split-second take-profit sell orders totaling $14.21 million just above current levels today, which could temporarily blunt the immediate upward trajectory.
