Bitcoin has fallen below the psychological $80,000 support level, trading near $79,500 as macro headwinds and heavy outflows trigger a broader crypto market sell-off. Leveraged long liquidations and a "risk-off" posture dominate investor sentiment heading into a crucial week. Visit Trading Platform >>

Insights

• Geopolitical Flares & Oil Pressures: Renewed U.S.–Iran tensions regarding the Strait of Hormuz have pushed Brent crude oil above $117 a barrel. This energy crisis has reignited stubborn global inflation fears.

• Pre-Fed De-risking: With the Federal Reserve’s FOMC policy meeting convening on October 27–28, traders are cutting risk aggressively. Rumors of hawkish policy updates and potential interest rate adjustments have pushed capital to the sidelines.

• Institutional ETF Drainage: Institutional demand has hit a severe bottleneck. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs registered massive consecutive net outflows—shedding over $635 million in a single late-week session—turning October flows net-negative.

• Leveraged Liquidations: Falling past key thresholds triggered a cascading effect, forcing between $820 million to $840 million in crypto futures liquidations across 24 hours (with long positions bearing over 83% of the pain).

Ethereum vs Bitcoin: What Altcoins Need Right Now

In this video: Bitcoin is down about 4% over the last 30 days, and of the 48 biggest coins we track, only seven did better. So when will altcoins finally rally? With data from the MCO Terminal we look at the last big altcoin rally, this summer and October, and then at my Ethereum and ETH/BTC charts with Elliott Wave (25 October 2026). On October 25, 2026, Ethereum (ETH) is trading at approximately $2,347.26 USD (equivalent to €2,072.15 EUR), marking a mild intra-day decline of roughly 0.86%. This follows a broader downward trend over the past week where ETH prices retraced from the $2,470 level. The daily trading volume sits at a robust $8.79 billion USD.

Insights Today

• Upgrade Postponement: The primary bearish driver this weekend is the unexpected delay of a highly anticipated Ethereum network upgrade. Following an EIP-8037 review on October 24, the "Hoodi" upgrade has been pushed back beyond its original October 26 target, shaking short-term investor confidence.

• Massive ETF Outflows: Institutional momentum has severely cooled. U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs have hemorrhaged roughly $1.1 billion USD in net outflows over the last three weeks. These structural outflows are largely attributed to the upgrade delays and stiff competition from staking alternatives, which has also dragged down major crypto-native companies like Coinbase.

• Macro Headwinds: Crypto markets are grappling with broader macroeconomic uncertainty and weaker overall institutional inflows, keeping ETH contained within tight ranges.

Bitcoin Loses Major $81,000 Support, Bear Market Returns? Key Levels To Trade

Bitcoin has broken below $81,000, the key level Gareth Soloway has flagged for the past two weeks, and the big question now is whether this weekend breakdown is real. In this crypto update, the Chief Market Strategist at VerifiedInvesting.com lays out what Bitcoin needs to do by Monday, where the next downside target sits, and the altcoin levels where he is ready to start accumulating small positions in Ethereum, Solana, Zcash and Hyperliquid. Video by Gareth Soloway.

Gareth walks through Bitcoin’s slide: the selloff alongside stocks on Thursday, Friday’s pause day, and Saturday’s flush to just above $79,000. The breakdown is not confirmed. Weekend moves happen on thinner liquidity, so he wants to see whether institutional money steps in to support Bitcoin come Monday. If Bitcoin is not back above $81,000 by then, he sees a high probability of a move to $75,500. He also explains why a weekend escalation in the Middle East matters for crypto, since Bitcoin is the one market open when traders want to de-risk.

As of October 25, 2026, XRP is trading at approximately $1.31, down about 1.58% over the past 24 hours. The cryptocurrency is facing short-term bearish pressure and directionless momentum as it struggles to stay above critical technical support levels amidst broader macroeconomic uncertainty.

XRP Insights Today

Despite the choppy price action, core fundamental developments within the Ripple ecosystem remain robust.

• The $10B Arf Partnership: On October 22, Ripple signed a strategic deal with Arf, a major global settlement firm. Under this agreement, Ripple will leverage its RLUSD stablecoin to provide working capital and credit lines to licensed payment companies directly on the XRP Ledger (XRPL).

• Stablecoin Traction: The RLUSD supply has progressed rapidly, hitting $2.51 billion this month through expanded pilots with Mastercard, Gemini, and WebBank. Notably, the XRPL has flipped Ethereum as the primary home chain for RLUSD ($810M vs $756M).

• ETF Slowdown: While spot U.S. XRP ETFs historically cumulative over $1.4 billion–$1.8 billion in inflows, daily institutional buying has thinned recently. Analysts estimate that daily ETF inflows would need to scale above $20 million to catalyze a sustained rally back toward the $1.49 October opening price.

Why Bitcoin Fell While Inflation Came Back

In this video: US inflation is back up at 3.7%, yet Bitcoin is still about 35% below its all-time high. We check with data from the MCO Terminal why the inflation rate is not a good guide for Bitcoin, what the Fed explains and what it doesn't, and look at the Bitcoin chart with Elliott Wave on 24 October 2026. Video by More Crypto Online. Visit Trading Platform >>

Bitcoin has dropped below the $80,000 mark, triggered by heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The cryptocurrency fell to its lowest point in over a month, trading down roughly 1.25% to hover near $80,841 before sliding further below the psychological demand zone of $80,000 on Saturday morning.

Bitcoin Insights Today

• The Make-or-Break Zone: Analysts from Investing.com point out that the $80,000 support level is a crucial demand zone. If buyers fail to reclaim this area over the weekend, it could validate a steeper short-term correction; however, holding this zone keeps structural hopes alive for a recovery back toward $84,000.

• Whale Accumulation Continues: Despite the price drop, on-chain metrics reveal a silver lining. There is a surge in large-holder (whale) withdrawals from exchanges alongside growing institutional wallet activity. This indicates that long-term high-net-worth investors are using the price dip as an accumulation opportunity.

• Evolution into Private Banking: A shifting trend highlighted by CoinDesk shows that wealthy Bitcoin holders are moving away from active speculation. According to Xapo Bank's CEO, early adopters and family offices are increasingly treating BTC as an institutional wealth-preservation asset—choosing to borrow fiat against their crypto or hunt for low-risk accumulation yields rather than selling their holdings.

• Geopolitical Derailment: The primary catalyst for the sudden weekend downturn is a Wall Street Journal report confirming that the U.S. is rapidly evacuating personnel from embassies across the Middle East due to threats of imminent Iranian attacks. This macroeconomic anxiety triggered a swift risk-off sentiment, catching crypto markets during lower-liquidity weekend hours.

• Massive Derivative Liquidations: The sudden dip caught over-leveraged bullish traders off guard. The broader crypto futures market saw a staggering $466.54 million in liquidations over a 24-hour window. Long positions accounted for $319.36 million of those losses, with Bitcoin positions alone making up $90.72 million (89.3% of which were longs). Over 179,000 traders were forcibly liquidated.
